- Hit with the paddle's edge to angle the ball.
- The ball gets faster with every hit.

Tips for a better score
- The machine chases where the ball is, not where it will land, so steep shots that bounce off the top or bottom wall often wrong-foot it.
- Each hit makes the ball about six per cent faster, but the machine's paddle only speeds up when you score, so quick steep returns late in a rally win points.
- Avoid meeting the ball with the middle of your paddle; it sends the ball back dead flat, the easiest return for the machine to reach.
- The mouse or a dragging finger moves your paddle faster than the arrow keys, which starts to matter once a rally gets quick.
