Tips for a better score

  • Two of your tiles with two empty tiles between them form a bridge: if the other side takes one, take the other and you stay joined. The machine knows this trick too.
  • Blocking is joining. Every tile that stops teal crossing is a tile that helps orange cross, which is why a full board can never be a draw.
  • The middle of the board is worth most early on. With the swap rule on, a first stone in the middle just gets taken, so open somewhere quieter.
  • A won game pays 60, 100 or 150 points by board size, doubled against Steady and tripled against Sharp, plus 3 per empty tile left. Each undo or hint takes 20 off that win.

About Shore to Shore

Shore to Shore is the old connection game played on a rhombus of hexagons. Orange owns the left and right shores, teal the top and bottom. Take turns claiming one empty tile each; the first to link their two shores with an unbroken chain wins, and the winning chain lights up tile by tile. A full board always has exactly one winner, so a game can never be drawn. Pick a 7, 9 or 11 board, turn on the swap rule to take the edge off moving first, and play the machine, which reads the board as an electrical circuit and sharpens with every game you win, or pass one phone between two players. Undo and a hint are there when you want them.
