Tips for a better score

  • The hour hand moves too. At twenty-five to four it sits most of the way to four, which is the usual place to go wrong.
  • Past or to: anything in the right half of the face is past the hour, anything in the left half is to the next one.
  • When setting the hands, drag anywhere on the face — the hand follows your finger and snaps to whatever the level allows.
  • The 24-hour levels only change how the answer is written. Afternoon times add twelve, so quarter past four in the afternoon is 16:15.

About Clock Wise

Clock Wise teaches an analogue clock face two ways about. One question shows the hands and asks what the time is in the words people actually use — quarter past three, twenty to nine, half past ten. The next gives you the time and asks you to set it, dragging the orange minute hand while the hour hand creeps round as a real clock's would. Level one is o'clock only; after that come half past, the quarter hours, five-minute steps and finally any minute at all, with the upper levels asking in 24-hour time as well. Three wrong answers end the run, and the level you reached is saved.
