Tips for a better score
- Put it to bed before you leave. Asleep, it gets hungry, grubby and bored at half the speed, and it wakes up rested on its own.
- It sulks when its four needs average under 30, and a sulking pet grows at half speed. One visit a day that fills all four keeps it growing.
- Time away counts for 48 hours at most, so a week off is the same as a weekend off. Nothing is ever lost: the worst it does is sulk.
- Treat catch is won with 12 treats, find the berry with 4 out of 5, and hop timing with 50 points. Each win puts a toy on the shelf.
- Your score is what this visit earned: care, games and milestones. Growing into a new stage is worth 50.
About Nestling
Nestling starts with a nest of six eggs. Pick one, keep it warm until it hatches, and meet the creature inside: a fluffy moth, a pebble-shelled turtle, a wind-up tin bird, a wobbly jelly, a fox-cat or a cactus with a face. Feed it, wash it, put it to bed and play three little games with it (catch falling treats, find the berry under the shuffled cups, and hop in time). It grows from baby to child to teen to adult over about two weeks of real days, and it carries on living while the page is shut: growing is worked out from the clock when you come back, with time away counted for up to 48 hours. Leave it alone and it gets hungry, grubby and bored, and then it sulks and grows more slowly. It never dies, never runs away and never starts over. Wins and milestones put toys on its shelf, and the photo button pins a picture of it into a nine-photo album inside the game.
