  5. Undo as often as you like, or Refill to start the board again.

Controls

Keyboard

  • ← ↑ → ↓ move between holes
  • Space or Enter picks a peg up, then an arrow jumps it that way
  • Z or Backspace undo, R refill the board
  • H hint, P pause

Touch

  • Tap a peg, then the hole two along
  • Or drag the peg over its neighbour
  • UNDO, REFILL and HINT sit under the board

Controller

  • D-pad or left stick to move
  • A / Cross for action, B / Circle for secondary
  • Start to pause

Tips for a better score

  • Work from the edges inwards. Pegs stranded on an outside row are the ones that get left behind.
  • Keep a tight block of pegs together: a jump needs two pegs in a row and a hole behind them, so a scattered board dies quickly.
  • One peg that jumps several times in a row is a chain, and every jump in it pays five more than the last.
  • Scoring: ten points a jump, more for chains, then 200 for a solve plus two points for every second under par. Each hint costs forty.

About Peg Solitaire

Peg Solitaire is the old wooden jumping-peg board. A peg hops over the one next to it into the empty hole behind, and the peg it jumped comes off the board; keep going until a single peg is left, and it has to finish in the ringed hole. Seven boards climb from a twelve-hole brick to the thirty-three-hole English board and the thirty-seven-hole French one, and the board you reach is saved, so you can come back to it. Every board ships with a full solution worked out by an exhaustive search, so each one is provably winnable, and the hint searches from wherever your board actually is — it will tell you the jump that keeps you winning, or that the position is already lost and how far to undo.
