  5. Death ends the run. Today's dungeon is one try a day.

Controls

Keyboard

  • ← ↑ ↓ → or WASD move and strike (hold to keep walking)
  • Space waits a turn, or goes down on the stairs
  • Z or Q drinks a potion
  • M swaps today and endless, P pause

Touch

  • Tap a tile to walk there, or swipe to take one step
  • Tap a foe next to you to strike it
  • Tap yourself or DOWN on the stairs to go down; POTION drinks

Controller

  • D-pad or left stick to move
  • A / Cross for action, B / Circle for secondary
  • Start to pause

Tips for a better score

  • Fight in corridors. In a doorway only one foe can reach you at a time, while in the open three can.
  • Slimes and mounds only act every other turn, so you can step back from them and choose when to trade blows.
  • You get one health back every ten turns. Resting costs turns, but a floor started at full health is far safer.
  • Scoring: 200 for each floor below the first, gold and foes beaten on top, and a big bonus for taking the Sun Stone, bigger the fewer turns it took.

About Ten Floors Down

Ten Floors Down is a turn-based dungeon crawl in the old style. You carry a torch through ten floors of flagstone rooms and corridors, and nothing moves until you do: every step, strike, rest or potion is one turn, and then every foe that has seen you takes one. Walk into a foe to strike it. Pick up potions, gold, a keener blade, a sturdier shield, oak charms for more health and lamp oil for a wider torch, then take the stairs down. Slimes are slow, bats flit about, shellbacks shrug off light blows, ember wisps hit hard and mounds hit harder. On the tenth floor the Warden guards the Sun Stone. Death is final, so every run is fresh. There is today's dungeon, the same ten floors for everyone until midnight, and endless runs on a new random dungeon each time. Every floor is checked before you see it, so the stairs can always be reached.
