How to play
- Type any real five-letter word and press Enter.
- Teal with a tick: right letter, right place. Mustard with a dot: right letter, wrong place.
- Grey and unmarked: that letter is not in the word at all.
- Six tries. The daily word is the same for everyone until midnight; practice is endless.
- Press 1 for daily, 2 for practice and H for hard mode before your first letter.

Tips for a better score
- Open with a word carrying several different vowels and common consonants, such as RAISE or SLATE, to rule out as much of the alphabet as you can.
- A solve pays 600 points and loses 100 for every try after the first, so a fifth-try solve is worth 200 and a sixth is worth 100.
- Hard mode adds 150 points, and a live daily streak adds 25 a day up to 250, so a streak of ten on hard is worth 400 on top.
- A try that is not in the word list is refused without costing you anything, so guessing at an odd-looking word is free.
About Word Lock
Word Lock hides a five-letter word and gives you six tries to name it. Each try marks every letter: teal with a tick means the right letter in the right place, mustard with a dot means the letter is in the word but somewhere else, grey means it is not in the word at all, so the board reads fine whether or not you can tell the colours apart. There is one daily word, the same for everybody until your own midnight, and unlimited practice with a fresh word each round. Hard mode makes you reuse every clue you have been given. Solving the daily keeps a streak going, and the end screen charts how many tries your wins have taken.
