How to play
- Tap one of your pieces, then a glowing square to move it.
- If a capture is on, you must take it, and keep jumping while you can.
- Reach the far row to crown a king that moves both ways.
- Take every enemy piece or leave the machine stuck to win the round.
- Forty turns with no capture and no crowning is a draw: 100 points, and the run goes on.
Controls
Keyboard
- Arrows move the cursor
- Space picks a piece, then moves it
- Z drops the selection
- P pause
Touch
- Tap a piece, then a glowing square
Controller
- D-pad or left stick to move
- A / Cross for action, B / Circle for secondary
- Start to pause
Tips for a better score
- Keep your back row filled for as long as you can: the machine only crowns by reaching it, and a machine king behind your lines is hard to stop.
- Round wins carry the real points: 300 times the round number, plus 100 for each straight win before it, far more than captures or crowns.
- Before each move, check which jump it would force on you next turn; the machine looks ahead and can give up one piece to take two.
- When a capture is compulsory your pieces that can take pulse orange, and picking one puts a red cross on every piece its jump would remove.
About Draughts
English draughts on an eight-by-eight board against a machine that looks further ahead every round. Pieces move diagonally on the dark squares and capture by jumping, and if a capture is on the board you have to take it. Reach the far row to crown a king that moves both ways. Win a round and the board resets against a sharper machine; lose one and the run ends. Forty turns with no capture and no crowning is a draw, worth 100 points, and play goes on.
