Tips for a better score

  • Your token walks square by square, so you can see exactly what it is about to land on — and whether the square after a snake head is worth the risk.
  • Mud costs a whole turn, which at the top of the board is worth more than a snake near the bottom. Watch for it on the last two boards.
  • The swap square trades places with whoever is furthest ahead, so hanging back a little on the third board is sometimes the smart play.
  • Turning off the exact finish makes a board quicker; leaving it on turns the last five squares into the real race.

About Ladder Leap

Ladder Leap is a hundred-square race up the board with a die, ladders that carry you up and friendly snakes that slide you back. A run is three boards, each generated fresh and then tested by playing hundreds of silent games against itself, so none is a trap and none is a ramp — the positions are ours, not copied from any printed board. The second board brings extra squares: a boost that rolls again, mud that costs you a turn, and stars worth points. The third adds a swap that trades places with whoever is ahead of you. Play the machine on your own, or pass the phone round between two, three or four.
