Something not working in Fence Loop?
Scores can't be saved in this browser (private mode?). Play on.
How to play
- Drag from dot to dot to lay fence. Drag back over fence to lift it.
- Tap the gap between two dots to cycle fence, cross, empty.
- Each number shows how many sides of its square the loop runs along.
- Make one single loop: no branches, no loose ends, no second loop.
- Switch between today's puzzle and practice with the tabs at the top; the size key changes the practice board.
Controls
Keyboard
- ← ↑ → ↓ move between dots
- Space or Enter cycles the pen: up, draw fence, cross out
- With the pen down, an arrow lays or lifts the piece that way
- Z or Backspace undo, H hint
- M swap today and practice, 3 practice size, P pause
Touch
- Drag from dot to dot to lay fence
- Tap a gap between two dots to cycle fence, cross, empty
- UNDO, CLEAR and HINT sit under the board
Controller
- D-pad or left stick to move
- A / Cross for action, B / Circle for secondary
- Start to pause
Tips for a better score
- A 0 is the best place to start: cross out all four of its sides, and the dots around it lose their options fast.
- A dot can only take two pieces of fence or none. When a dot has one piece and only one open way out, the fence must go that way.
- A 3 in a corner of the board always takes both of its outside corner sides.
- The loop must close on itself exactly once, so never join the two ends of a short loop while other fence is still waiting.
- Scoring: two points the first time each number is met, then four a square and a bonus for solving under par. Hints cost twenty; undo is free.
About Fence Loop
Fence Loop is a quiet pen-and-paper logic puzzle. A board of dots has numbers in some of its squares. Draw a single closed loop along the dots, never branching and never crossing itself, so that every number says exactly how many sides of its square the loop runs along. A 0 means the loop keeps clear of that square; a 3 means it wraps three sides. Cross out the gaps you know stay empty and the deductions start to chain. Every puzzle is built in your browser and checked by an exact solver before you see it, so each one has exactly one answer. There is today's 7 by 7 loop, the same for everyone until midnight, and endless practice in three sizes: a small 5 by 5, a 7 by 7 and a tall 8 by 10.
